Woooo Hooot Wednesday!

Well it has been a good day - rain, Horton & Who's, cupcakes and rainbows!
With inspiration from Janine the resident Angel on the SE forum - she started Wooo Hooo Wednesday's last week - and today I must admit I did have a Wooo Hooo Wednesday!

* Today I decided to take Finn on a date to the movies - Horton hears a Who - when I asked if he wanted to go he was soooo excited! The movie was great, company was great, need I say more!

* Kids wheat bags were completed and they couldn't wait to get ready for bed tonight and get them heated up! :)
* I finished off a bag I made with the cupcake material I bought at Spotlight. Made it just slightly bigger than a Scrapbooking Memories magazine - used a copy of one of these mags to measure out the material! LOL!
* Made a quick visit to the LSS while I was in town and bought my first set of Hero Art stamps (first of many I think!!). And also into stationery shop to get some watercolour pencils - now I am all set to have a play tonight! Hehe!
* then tonight as I was cooking tea this beautiful big rainbow appeared in the sky! Reminded me of a line in the Horton movie - the wee fuzz ball character says "In my world there live ponies, that eat rainbows and fart butterflies" - how cute!
So that was my Wednesday - hope you all had a good one!

Happy Birthday to me!

Yes ... today I am another year older, not complaining though because I am in a very happy place in my life right now!
The kids were so excited putting together a gorgeous afternoon tea for me, complete with this choc mousse cheesecake with sprinkles on :)
Hubby has taken kids out for an hour or two, so I can do some creating in my scraproom - so best get back to it!

Lest we forget ...

"Those heroes that shed their blood
And lost their lives ...
You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country.
Therefore rest in peace.
There is no difference between the Johnnies
And the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side
Here in this country of ours ...
You the mothers
Who sent their sons from far away countries
Wipe away your tears.
Your sons are now living in our bosom
And are in peace.
Having lost their lives on this land they have
Become our sons as well."
Ataturk 1934

I was lucky enough to spend ANZAC day 2001 in Gallipoli at ANZAC Cove - what an amazing experience, something I will never forget ...

My WoooHooo Wednesday ....

I know I am a day late but I thought I would get on the WooooHoooo bandwagon started by Angelgurl

Yesterday I decided to take the kids into Dunedin as a holiday treat. Can't remember the last time I did this but we had such a cool time! The kids were so well behaved, and spent some of their pocket money on some toys. As we were driving home Finn piped up in the backseat and said 'Mum I had such a fun time today' - how special is that!

We stopped at Spotlight on the way home to pick up some fabric to make the kids their own wheat bags and I found the coolest fabric. It is pink and has little cupcakes all over it! I got 1/2 metre but am at a loss now of what to make with it?! I have been cruising etsy.com but to now avail - maybe a cushion cover, book cover or little apron? Not sure yet, will decide over the weekend.

All in all it was a pretty cool day with the kids, suppose they are getting a bit older now (3 & 5) so easier to get out and about with them.

'Piggy' Love

Second post for the day ...... had a bit of a muck round with pages for Emma's album, think I have colours and pp choosen, so now to get stuck in and produce some pages.
As for the photo below - we opened a bank account for Finn to do school banking, it is with BNZ and they sent a voucher to get one of their piggy banks. So I took Finn in yesterday to our local branch (which got robbed on FRiday but that's another story!). As soon as Emma saw what Finn was getting she started getting a bit crabby, luckily the nice lady at the bank noticed this and asked if she would like one too. She obviously has children and could see what chaos was going to be created at home with one piggy bank and two children each wanting it! WHEW crisis averted!
This morning the kids were running round with these piggy banks and I told them to put them in the bedroom. Later in this morning I was walking up the hall I spied this image of the two wee pigs sitting face to face on the desk in Finn's bedroom with the sun streaming in on them - Soooooooo cute! On that note I am going to switch off the computer tonight and do some creating :)

Hello ...

Well we are into a new week already, boy this year is flying fast already!
I emailed Nic Howard a couple of the pics from previous posts of my book I have compiled for Finn. I had a lovely email back saying she had been checking out my 'gorgeous' pages on this blog - *blushing*. So Nic if you are checking in again, a big *wave* to you, and I am just about to go and work on Miss 3's album this morning.
Beautiful weather here over the last few days, sunny although a bit chilly in the shade and yummy crisp frosty mornings. I think we had some rain last night, but then again it might have just been a heavy dew.
Not much happening on the creative front the past few days, but am going to do some this morning - promise, just as soon as I post this blog.
So hoping to be able to post some pics of layouts tonight .......
later m:)

All About Me - Part 3

This is the final page I have completed for Finn's book so far.
Thanks for all your great comments in my last two posts about this album. It all came together really quickly after I decided to essentially repeat the same colours and layout of papers. I got some great answers to my questions from Finn, and seeing the look on his face as he flicked thru the book as I was putting it together was all worth it! :)
Now off to complete the latest sketch challenge at SE, and to see what the Friday night challenge is.

All About Me - Part 2

These are the remaining pages I have completed for Finn's album. So good to get an album started and completed in such a short time - dragging it out ultimately means something ends up unfinished, so I am happy with how this has turned out.

Have made up 5 more pages, ready to add photos and captions - would like these to be family photos so will have to try and get these done over the weekend. Also a pic with his grandparents - will take this next time they are thru for a weekend.

All About Me

Well not me actually, it's all about Finn this time! Am following the prompts from Nic Howard's blog on doing a scrapbook especially for the kids. One that they can have beside their bed, to show their friends and to 'own' themselves. A great idea so I have completed about 11 pages for Finn's album so far, here are the first few pages ...

Am going to get started on Emma's one now, will post photos as I complete, and more photos from Finn's album too.

Boots and pink stripy socks!

Following last post here is a pic of thos little pink socks and the rugby boots - LOL! A friend gave us 3 pairs of old boots they had, so Emma was most insistent in having a pair on too when Finn was trying his out! A denim skirt, pink stripy socks and rugby boots - such a good look!

Colours everywhere!

This pic is for Trace - thanks for your suggestion re learning colours! A reward tonight for the kids - a GREEN bath!

Have started doing a mini scrapbook for Finn - 'All about me' inspired by Nic Howard's blog . Am having fun taking different photos of Finn and getting his answers to questions, drawing round his hands and getting some cool drawings to include in it. Will post some pics when it is a bit more complete.

Finn is starting his rugby career tomorrow - first outing is at Carisbrook! LOL! Maybe a sign of things in future?! LOL! He is starting Rippa rugby with a local club and they have a open day with a few of the other clubs at Carisbrook tomorrow arvo for a bit of a run round. He got a wee pair of boots yesterday (got a couple of pairs from a friend) and had to spend some time wearing them running outside to try them out - so cute! Not to be outdone Emma had to have a go too, complete in her demin skirt and pink striped socks on! Very funny!

My Bucket List ...

Well I never really got round to doing this layout for the Book of Me challenge on SE. It wasn't that I didn't want to, but I am having a 'scrap block' and can't decide how to do the layout?!
So thought I would just add a blog about it, then I might get a wave of inspiration and scrap it later!

I have been really fortunate over the past few years that I have been able to 'tick' off a few things on my bucket list. So I suppose this has been a time for reflection for me, and also time to ponder what to add to my bucket list to achieve/challenge myself in the future.

A fair bit of my bucket list that I achieved was done when I was living overseas, so many opportunities to travel that it was rude not to! A few of these included:
- climbing the Effiel Tower
- attending Dawn Service at ANZAC Cove at Gallipoli
- seeing the Pyramids at Giza, and the Sphinx
- sailed down the Nile
- seeing the tulip fields in the middle of spring in Amsterdam
- experience a white Christmas
- Watch the Tour de France cycle race in person
also achieved:
- competed in and finished a duathlon
- visited Milford Sound
- visited Cape Reinga

Over the next couple of years I want to tick of these things ....
- complete the Central Otago Rail Trail by bike
- complete the Milford Track

Longer term I would like to ....
- take my kids to Disneyland
- have a holiday at a ski resort in Canada/USA
- to travel to Ayers Rock

So that's it for me, still a few more things I want to do, and the list will probably grow considerably now that I am thinking about it more. LOL! Hopefully the inspiration for the layout will also come to me now! LOL!

Anyone seen the 'Bucket List' movie yet? Is it worth watching?

later :)
