Merry Christmas to me!

Well have had a great day, went to pick up my christmas pressie - a new digital camera - very cool.
Then got home and read my emails - there was one from Steph at Up2scrap! I have had an 'off the page' project accepted for the Feb 08 issue - HOW COOL! Have been doing the happy dance round the house all day - would love to share pics with you, but you know the rules - so you will just have to get a copy of the mag in February to see it! :)

Dear Santa

All you Mums out there will have a giggle at this one!

Dear Santa,

I've been a good mum all year. I've fed, cleaned and cuddled my children on demand, visited the doctor's office more than my doctor, sold sixty-two cases of choc.bars to raise money to plant a shade tree on the school playground. I was hoping you could spread my list out over several Christmases, since I had to write this letter with my son's red crayon, on the back of a receipt in the laundry room between cycles, and who knows when I'll find anymore free time in the next 18 years.

Here are my Christmas wishes:

I'd like a pair of legs that don't ache (in any colour, except purple, which I already have) and arms that don't hurt or flap in the breeze; but are strong enough to pull my screaming child out of the lolly aisle in the grocery store.

I'd also like a waist, since I lost mine somewhere in the seventh month of my last pregnancy.
If you're hauling big ticket items this year I'd like fingerprint resistant windows and a radio that only plays adult music; a television that doesn't broadcast any programs containing talking animals; and a refrigerator with a secret compartment behind the crisper where I can hide to talk on the phone.

On the practical side, I could use a talking doll that says, 'Yes, Mummy' to boost my parental confidence, along with two kids who don't fight and three pairs of jeans that will zip all the way up without the use of power tools.

I could also use a recording of Tibetan monks chanting 'Don't eat in the living room' and 'Take your hands off your brother,' because my voice seems to be just out of my children's hearing range and can only be heard by the dog.

If it's too late to find any of these products, I'd settle for enough time to brush my teeth and comb my hair in the same morning, or the luxury of eating food warmer than room temperature without it being served in a Styrofoam container.

If you don't mind, I could also use a few Christmas miracles to brighten the holiday season. Would it be too much trouble to declare tomato sauce a vegetable? It will clear my conscience immensely.

It would be helpful if you could coerce my children to help around the house without demanding payment as if they were the bosses of an organized crime family.

Well, Santa, the buzzer on the dryer is ringing and my son saw my feet under the laundry room door. I think he wants his crayon back.
Have a safe trip and remember to leave your wet boots by the door and come in and dry off so you don't catch cold.
Help yourself to cookies on the table but don't eat too many or leave crumbs on the carpet.

Yours Always, MUM...!

P.S. One more thing...you can cancel all my requests if you can keep my children happy, healthy and always believing.

Tis the season!

I never knew putting up the Christmas tree could be such hard work! The thing is I put up the tree and then these ones felt like they needed a rest - including the dog! But anyway yes the tree is up early, thought the with Sunday being the 25th, exactly one month to go that this was enough of an excuse to get out the decorations!
On the creative front I got together with a few friends last week and made this cool paper bag gift book! Made from paper bags, lots of little pockets to fill with goodies. I made mine with a christmas theme in mind - could easily be decorated for a birthday or other special event - VERY COOL!

On a positive note my photo printer is now printing again - yeah! Now I can finish off some projects and start on some others.

Oh yeah and a cute saying to end the post - Emma (almost 3) spied my newly painted toenails at the weekend and had a puzzled look on her face, then came the question "Mum, what you got lipstick on your toes for?" - so cute, yip you guessed it a layout on this is in the pipeline!

Friday Night Challenge!

Megan posted a great Friday Night Challenge - scrap your favourite recipe! I decided to use my fav dessert recipe - banoffi pie. But alas I had no pics, so in the name of my art I made my banoffi pie on Saturday especially to take a photo of it for my recipe card. This is the final pic:

This is the back of the recipe card, pic of ingredients is yet to be printed and stuck on (as had a problem with my photo printer).
Then today, the lovely Megan drew my name out as the winner of this challenge! Very excited about that even if I am feeling slighly sick after eating too much banoffi pie over the weekend - well I couldn't let it go to waste! ( I did have others help me eat it - not that greedy to eat it all myself!!)

Time after time challenge

I have actually got myself organised and have completed the Music Challenge posted by Neen. I did a bit of a different take on it - Time as in History - relevant to me as I am doing a bit of family history research - the pics I have included are of my Grandfather, Great Grandparents, and two of my Great Great grandmothers. Don't worry haven't chopped up original pics, have scanned them and reprinted.

SENZ Saturday nite layout

At the crop night on Saturday with the SE forum girls (& extras), Tanya gave us a wee selection of goodies. Below is the layout I completed with them - finished off with a pic from the evening care of Mrs Frizz! The inspiration for the layout came to me on my long drive home from ChCh and like the credit card ad on tv.

A bit fuzzy but it reads:
distance travelled - 867km, weekend ticket to SENZ - $30, shoppingat SENZ - $100 ish, spending the eving with SE forum ladies - priceless! LOL!

SENZ weekend

Well what a cool weekend! Headed to ChCh for the weekend to attend SENZ, catch up with friends and to do some shopping. I did all that and so much fun!!
Thursday was a bit of a crap day driving on the roads in all that rain. But I made it ok with a few stops along the way including Waimate to do a bit of family history research.
Friday was my SENZ day, I did one class being the photography one. It was ok but I will need to spend a bit of time playing with my camera to work out all the settings she was talking about. Then came the shopping for scrapping supplies - two kits, a few stamps and a lot of new papers - should keep me going for a wee while.
Saturday I went shopping with a friend to Dressmart and Eziby. Then in the evening I caught up some of the SE girls at Tanya's work, this was really fun with loads of laughs, chocolate and a fantastic cake!
Will have to sit down and do some layouts with my new supplies - will post them soon so keep watching!

'Diaper' cake

When checking out Elsie's blog a couple of weeks ago I spied a 'diaper' cake she had done for a girlfriends baby shower. How cool - I had never seen one before! So when I got an invite to a baby shower for a friend of mine I knew what I was going to give her - yip a 'diaper/nappy' cake! I was really stoked with the way it turned out - used two packets of Giggles newborn nappies, lots of string, bit of ribbon and animal shapes.

Jack me Up

Well here is my first go at the Jack me Up challenge (Jack #4).
So here is my version of Ann's layout - mine being Spring has Sprung. There is a field of daffs down the road and each year I take the kids down there for a pic. This year I had to bribe them with ice cream to get them to sit still - they seemed happy with that!

Roll on SUMMER!!!!

Am loving the warmer weather we are now having now, the sandpit is getting lots of use which is great, even if I am finding random piles of sand all through the house! Moro loves getting in on the action, often lying in the middle of where the kids are trying to play, or else helping them dig really big holes!!

Further SE entries

Here are my entries for the last two weeks of the Scrapbook Essentials Ultimate Scrapbooking Champ.

Week 6 - Technique - mine being inking and also using stencils to do title.
